Sun Spill
October 16 - November 21

Kaylie Kaitschuck | Madeline Jane Lounsberry

Baby Blue Gallery is excited to announce Sun Spill, a two-person exhibition featuring Madeline Jane Lounsberrry and Kaylie Kaitschuck. Both artists craft hyperbolic images; Kaitschuck with textile and Lounsberry with oil paint. Their chaotic compositions depict reality and absurdity colliding through fantasy worlds where extreme joy and folly are on the brink of collapse. The works are ecstatic, spiritual, and funny. Like a sun that won't stop and can’t stop spilling through clouds.

Kaylie Kaitschuck (b. 1995, Dearborn, MI) received her MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art, in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. She uses machine embroidery to draw with yarn and create fantastical yet overwhelming landscapes. Drifting through realities of real and fake, they are an archive of thought, routine, and memory that may or may not have ever existed. She recently exhibited at Gaa Gallery (Provincetown, MA) Playground Detroit (Detroit, MI) and KO Gallery (Hamtramck, MI) She is a recipient of The Red Bull House of Arts Microgrant, The Robert C. Larson Art, Design, and Architecture Venture Award, and is published in New American Paintings. She lives and works in Detroit, Michigan.

Madeline Jane Lounsberry is a Chicago based artist. She was born in Waterloo, Iowa and grew up in Eagle Valley, Colorado. She is currently an MFA candidate at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her artistic practice is primarily based in painting and figuration, and also spans drawing, video, sculpture, performance, and garments. After completing her BFA from SAIC in 2017 she has been teaching yoga in Chicago and after-school art to elementary school students on the West and Northwest sides of the city. She enjoys basketball and taking care of her flower garden and indoor plants.
